MIND SET ON YOU!

Image
I opened my eyes and I realized that it was still very early in the morning, but I was already tired of laying in bed. I stayed for a little while and then angrily got up. For some reasons I was so sad that morning. I was thinking of so many things I did not have, and I needed them, and so many things I needed to do that I did not know how to go about them. I was weighed down by the thoughts of these. Getting to the siting room, I laid down on our couch. Studied a chapter of the Bible and dozed off. I fell into a trance where I was singing a hymn ‘ All people that on earth do dwell ’, and then I got to the third verse where it says “For why the Lord our God is good, His mercy is forever sure. His truth at all times firmly stood and shall from age to age endure ”.  Tears were rolling down my eyes, and I soon started to cry in the physical. I continued worshipping God the way I did in that trance. I understood the word the Lord spoke to me in the third verse of that hymn. Not very l...

EXACT STRENGTH FOR THE VERY WEAKNESS!

Image
Recently, I have been reminiscing on how constant the word of God is and how faithful God himself is. This year has been a hell of a year, and there is just no need to go in depth because everyone has felt a touch of the hardness of this year, as well as the sweetness. Yes, I said “sweetness” because as much as we all agree that 2020 has been so tough with series of pains and regrets for many, it has still been a very lovely year. Why do I say this? It is in a time of chaos, trouble, difficulty, a time when man’s strength and wisdom are exhausted, that God manifests His unexhaustive and limitless power. It is a time when science fails man, when skills, abilities, knowledge, status, wealth, cannot save man; that is when God’s ability is at its peak. So, when we say that this year has really been sweet, we mean that despite the things we've been through, despite our weakness, and I am not just talking about COVID-19, I am talking about personal issues people have faced, either be...

LET'S CROSS OVER!

Image
Have you ever embarked on a journey where you did not have to cross anything? It could be crossing the road to get to the bus stop or you are in your car and need to move to the other side of the road? Life is a journey; we all know that. At different points in our lives there would always be advancements. No one wants to be static/stagnated. You need to be intentional and determined to make it to the end of our journey.  One day Jesus told his disciples in Mark 4:35-41 “Let's cross to the other side of the Lake”. What does the other side mean? It signifies advancements, growth, opportunities for improvement in life, and miracles. Unfortunately, many people are afraid or unwilling to cross over. There is more to life than what you may be seeing now. On the other side, you allow Jesus to take full charge and control over your life. It is a pace where you are no longer a slave to sin. The storms of life may arise as seen in the verse 37, which may want you to go back or make you ...

WE DO NOT LIVE TO HIDE

Image
The book of Proverbs chapters 28 and 29 talk a lot about the righteous and the wicked, and their influence in various circumstances of life. For instance, Proverbs 28 verse 28 tells us that “when wicked rise men hide themselves, when they perish the righteous increase”. You know most of the rulers we have in our world today are unrighteous and they love to see the people hide themselves. They love to see the people scramble under their tables, looking for shelter, trying to save themselves even while suffering. They love to see the people beg them and cry for their own rights. This is the situation of many nations today. People suffer hunger and lack but they cannot talk, lest they suffer more harm. But we do not live to hide. We live to stand up against ungodliness. The scripture also says that when they perish the righteous increase. Truly the Lord does not desire the death of a sinner. So, we may not outrightly pray that ungodly leaders should die because God desires that they ...

THERE IS DELIVERANCE!

Image
The world is currently in a state of disarray, and this is not a peculiar to a country or continent as most people might think. The entire world seems to be going through changing times and difficult ones are that. What does the word of God tell us about perilous times like this? The question we should always ask ourselves is, what is my place as a child of God in these trying times?  Recently in my home country Nigeria, we experienced horrific events. Lives were lost, blood was shed in many places, people scrambling and wondering what next to do. 2 Peter 2: 9 says “The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations I reserve the unjust until the day of judgment to be punished”. Yes, there is deliverance, there is salvation, and it is only in the name of the Lord Jesus shall we be saved.  The Bible also tells us that the name of the Lord is a strong tower the righteous runs into it and is safe. This was what Noah did when he entered the Ark with his family. Jesus is t...

MANAGING YOUR LIFE'S PROJECT

Image
PMI (Project Management Institute) simply defines a project as a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service, or result.  Therefore, we understand that project management involves all the processes put in place and carried out to ensure successful delivery of project expectations within the timeframe. Many "beautiful" projects have failed today, while others are on their way to hit the rock because of lack of proper management. This is why we study project management to learn the best practices on how to be successful in our endeavors. It is also imperative not to think of a project as building or road constructions, rockets, software packages, etc. The simple act of waking up in the morning and going to work is a project. Now this is the point where we sip a cup of lemon juice🍹 to pause 😊. YOUR LIFE IS A PROJECT ! Sadly, this is one project people do not bother to manage. We spend billions preparing and working on projects, that we forget about our ow...

OUR REDEEMER IN THE WILDERNESS

Image
There comes a time in our lives when it seems like we are living in a very dry land. We are so thirsty to drink clean water and be refreshed in this life full of many troubles. In fact, sometimes, it feels like we're actually choking from the challenges that face us everyday. This feeling leads many to depression and even suicide in some cases. This is the wilderness of life, and one deception the enemy brings to a man is to make him feel like he's alone in that wilderness and no other person has the kind of problems he has. I had a time like that when I felt other people were lucky and happy. I was even in the campus fellowship and seeing the way some of the brethren would sing and dance made me think all was well with them and it deepened my frustration. Thanks to God for His deliverance. The bible explains how God redeems us and makes our life anew. To redeem is to repay, to save, to recover. The latter is very essential and this is why God is so interested in it. Isaiah 43 ...

THE ONE WHO IS REALLY REAL!

Image
"How are you sure your mother is really your mother?"  "What if they lied to you?" "What if the DNA test was a scam?" "Just because you grew up and saw yourself in their midst doesn't mean they're truly your parents". These were the statements from our lecturer on the first day of class in that course. He bombarded us with these words to raise critical and analytical thinking in us. I had just been admitted into the Philosophy department of the school as an undergraduate. He wanted us to begin to doubt everything and start thinking afresh to determine what the truth is; like of Ancient Philosopher, Rene Descartes. Anyway, we're not talking about about philosophy today. 😄 Most of us never questioned the identity of those we call our parents today. We never even wondered if they are truly our biological parents. This is not to undermine being adopted as a child or having foster parents; and both are really good. But apart from these ...

WAITING AT THE PORTALS

Image
1. Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling              calling for you and for me, See on the portals He's waiting and watching watching for you and for me. Refrain: Come home, come; you who are weary come home, earnestly tenderly Jesus is calling, calling, Oh sinner, come home.   The above is the first stanza and refrain of one of my favorite hymns written by Will L. Thompson in 1880. It has been sung severally, and I would like us to look through the wordings for understanding, while we sing with our spirits.  I hear the soft and tender voice of Jesus calling for you and for me. I do not know about you, but I hope you do hear Him as well. Now He could be calling us to different levels, realms, and capacities, so do not think this post is not for you. If you have not surrendered your life to Jesus for Him to become your Lord and Savior, friend and brother, then you need to answer this call. What have you been waiting for? This is the bes...

YOU ARE THE SACRIFICE

Image
Two young men brought their offerings to the Lord one day. One was a farmer, and the other reared animals. They were brothers from same parents. They had worked so hard, and in the process of time, they made this offering to the Lord. But the Lord accepted one, and rejected the other. WHY? This has always been the question in the minds of many people. This is the story of Cain and Abel. Ah yes! It's very popular, so it's nothing new. We've heard, read, and spoken about it since when we were kids. We were even told in the children's ministry that Cain brought decayed and putrefied crops, so he was the one who got rejected. And then Abel brought a very fat and good looking ram as sacrifice, so God was so pleased that He couldn't find any fault in Abel's offering. The mistake we've always made whenever we read this story in Genesis 4 is to always condemn Cain and applaud Abel, and never look at ourselves. In fact, for some persons, they've outgrown this s...

THE GLORY: MY DEFENSE

Image
Ever watched a comic film with superheroes, where the actors have to fight certain enemies. They use several weapons, from spears to swords, bombs, claws, and so many others. But there's something worthy of note in some of the action movies. A shield. Many a time, it is not just the handheld tool, it is the type that covers the entire land or a spaceship, or the actors. This prevents invasion from outsiders, and receives bullets or bombs fired against the characters. It takes a lot to break this covering, and in most cases, it cannot be broken. Alright, back to the real world. 😊 We live in a world full of vices and attacks. While we know the some of the origins of these attacks, there are many we do not know. But we know we have one enemy - Satan - who manifests himself in different shades. These attacks come in various forms, (sicknesses, pains, deaths, losses, etc) and they are both spiritual and physical. Some we see them, some we don't. The word of God in 1 Peter 5:8 says ...

WORKING THROUGH US

Image
The Bible tells us in 1 Samuel 2:9b “by strength shall no man prevail”. The truth is that we don’t walk with God by our strength, because God does not work with our strength. The strongest man on earth is extremely weak before God. We walk with God by God working through us! Few years ago, the Lord ministered this word to my spirit. He said "it is not by your strength that we’ll walk with God. God will work through you. He’ll strengthen you that way. It may not be easy, but it is not difficult". This confirms His word from the scripture in  Philippians 2:13 For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose. God is glorified when His power is manifested even in our weakness. This is how He strengthens us. When we feel we’re tired of this race, when challenges seem to overwhelm us, He works in us to have the will and act the way He desires, for our own good. Men who have walked with God for 50, 70, or even 100 years of their lives never did...

FORCED HUMILITY

Image
I've seen people who speak harshly to their subordinates. They treat them anyhow they like, and even lambaste them before other people. The irony of this is that these people expect their subordinates or their followers to exhibit humility. If they react in someway other than what their leaders want, it is counted as pride. Don't test people's humility by treating them badly. Don't say that man is proud because he walked out you while you were scolding him like a kid publicly. Don't say that lady is arrogant because she talked back at you when you were obviously and intentionally embarrassing her by saying horrible things to her privately or publicly. (Meanwhile, I am not giving an excuse for people to disrespect their leaders). A lot of people are guilty of this; pastors not excluded. I've been a witness, and this is not nice at all. Forced humility or humility by coercion is not Christianity. Unfortunately, many people suffer in silence in the hands of these ...

FAITH, HOPE, AND TRUST.

Image
The little bird is not afraid to fly, thinking that it will fall and die when it pushes out into the empty air. Rather, it knows that the empty air is the element devised in order to hold it, and not only to hold it, but lift it to the upper skies. One of our fathers in Christendom once said "faith is a force of no limits". The above story about the little bird tells us about the attributes of faith and trust the bird possesses. Many a time, people fail, not because of the challenges that confront them, but because they stopped looking for something to hold on to when they wind of life blows. Like Hebrew 11:1 tells us  What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead.   AMP We can't stop the wind from blowing, but we can, like the bird, choose to spread out our wings and soar higher. This is the point where we want something to happen. ...

FINISHING IS BETTER THAN STARTING

Image
Angie was so determined to get to the end of the finishing line. She had always won the marathon race since her junior school. Sweat was running down her beautiful oval face. She thought of the fame attached to her name Angela Briggs. Everyone in school knew her. The guys keep flocking around her just to get a chance to be her friend. Some girls liked her, others simply envied her. Being such a talented athlete and keeping a slender body and fine curves come with a price, she thought. She was not ready to drag her name to the mud by not emerging as the first person in this race. "I've run the marathon four times in this school and everyone knows I'll win even before race gets started" said Angie. She looked behind her and couldn't see any of the athletes in the race. As usual they are way behind and may never catch up with her. Or so she thought. Finding a can of Soda wasn't difficult as they are kept on the sides of the road for the athletes in the race. Gu...

YOUR WILL TO LIVE

Image
As the year is coming to an end gradually, lots of people are wondering what they've achieved. Others are searching to know a positive significant thing that has happened to them, except to sleep, eat, watch movies, and back to sleep again. Some have even given up on this year and waiting for the year 2021. If you're in this boat, hey, you're not alone. You've got company! 😃  But 2021 cannot come until this year runs out. The big question is "what are you gonna do for the rest of this year"? You're not gonna sit around checking the calendar and counting the numbers on the clock. 😏 There are so many things to do at this time as a believer in Christ Jesus, but I'll just pen down some of them which are keys to staying on top during these trying time. 1. Do Not Fear Yes I know this is one of the most common phrases people hear. In fact, it appears 365 times in the Holy Scriptures. Nevertheless, it is the most overlooked and disobeyed; and of course one ...
